Joe Adkins -Frederick City Council District 4

Putting 35 years of experience and passion for Frederick to work for the people living in District 4

Passionate

I was raised in District 4, and I am raising my own family in this same district. I want a sense of neighborhood pride and community identity outside of the downtown area.

Why Do I Want to Serve?

Experienced

I have 35 years of experience working in the City of Frederick government — 15 of that as Deputy Director of Planning. I understand the responsibilities of the city leadership and staff, and I know how the government works.

Visionary

I am ready to tackle the additional future demands being placed on local governments by the financial uncertainties at the Federal and State government levels.

What Joe is Saying

"Growth is going to happen. How we manage that growth is the real question. "

"I want Frederick to be the place that my kids will want to come back to and raise their families as well. "

"The identity of City and Frederick County is Downtown Frederick. We need to create community identities outside of downtown.  Having focal points for each neighborhood creates a sense of pride and identity. "

What People Are Saying About Joe

“There's no doubt that you begin your campaign as one of the MOST qualified candidates EVER to run for local office. You've witnessed City elected leadership done really well, and not-so-well.

The greatest compliment I can offer to you is that in the 25+ years I've known you, I had no idea what your partisan affiliation was. In our work together, it never mattered.

I may have assumed it, but nothing you ever said to me would have indicated that you were either a Republican or a Democrat.

It was always just about the work.

In the current climate, I find that incredibly refreshing and encouraging!

Best of luck, Joe!” — Rick Weldon, former COO of the City of Frederick

“Yes!! This is awesome! Your experience and community engagement skills will be a welcome asset! #JoeKnowsFrederick” — Nichole Purcell

“Congratulations Joe —- It would be awesome to have you on the City Council!” — Tom Trott Jr.

“Joe’s leadership and strategic planning have significantly shaped the landscape of our city, fostering sustainable growth, vibrant neighborhoods, and a legacy that will endure for generations to come.” — Frederick Mayor Michael O'Connor, Frederick News-Post, December 12, 2023
